Our Sugarmill Eagles had a sweet time celebrating today with juicy peaches and lots of smiles. What a fun (and tasty!) way to end the week!

Last week, Ms. Ledford kicked things off with a Growth Mindset lesson using the story of Humpty Dumpty—a perfect reminder that it’s not about the fall, but how you get back up! 💡
Students were challenged to build a wall to balance on, design a parachute, or create a landing pad to protect their very own egg. 🥚🪂 Even when eggs cracked, the mantra in Challenge rang true: “If you can’t make a mistake, you can’t make anything!”
We love seeing our Eagles take risks, problem-solve, and celebrate both successes and mistakes along the way. 💙💛

On Friday, Ms. McDonald and Mrs. Kolgaklis transformed their classrooms into cozy “cafes” for a Book Tasting. Students rotated through tables featuring high-quality children’s literature from six different genres. They had just a few minutes to “taste” each book, jot down their thoughts, and share with their classmates before moving on to the next course.
The tasting wrapped up with some real yummy refreshments—and lots of excitement as students built their “To Be Read” lists for the year. What a fun way to explore new books and genres!
A special shoutout to Ms. Smith for helping us gather such a wide variety of books for this event! 👏💙 Way to go, 4th Grade!!

School safety remains our highest priority. Families, we need your partnership in reminding and educating your children about the seriousness of making threats. What may seem like an innocent prank, or simply something said out of anger or frustration, can carry very serious consequences. Every threat, whether real or fake, demands an immediate law enforcement response, disrupts learning, and can result in life-changing legal prosecution.
We take EVERY threat seriously and will continue working closely with the St. Marys Police Department, Kingsland Police Department, and the Camden County Sheriff’s Office to ensure swift and decisive responses to all threats.
The safety of our students and staff will always be our top priority. If you have questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Protecting with Purpose,
Chief Kizzi Knight

Last week in Mrs. Thompson’s 5th grade class, students kicked off the year with a challenge! First, they found something in common with a classmate and wrote it on a note card. Then came the tricky part—using only those cards, they had to build the tallest tower possible!
The room was full of surprises, laughter, creative problem-solving, and a little healthy competition. What a great way to start the year building both towers and friendships! 💡✨

The story follows Marisol, a fun and vibrant girl who’s told she doesn’t “fit in” because of her mixed heritage and unique style. From her red hair and brown skin to her love of peanut butter & jelly burritos, Marisol embraces what makes her different. With the help of a supportive teacher, she learns that her one-of-a-kind qualities are exactly what make her special. 💛
We loved the message: Be proud of who you are. Celebrate what makes you YOU! 🦅 Awesome work, third grade!

We LOVE having our parents, grandparents, and community members volunteer at our school!
If you or someone you know would like to volunteer, a background check form is required. You can easily find it on our district website here: https://www.camden.k12.ga.us/o/ccsd/page/school-safety
You'll also find a pdf document listing the process, step-by-step, for becoming a volunteer.
Thank you for helping us keep our Eagles safe while making a difference in their school day! #WeAreEagles

Free & Reduced Lunch forms will be coming home with students today.
Please check your child’s folder or backpack and return the completed form as soon as possible.
Even if you don’t think you’ll qualify, we encourage ALL families to complete the form — it helps us provide important student support and secure funding for our school.
Thank you for partnering with us to make sure every Eagle has what they need to succeed! 🦅💛 #WeAreEagles

Dear Camden Families,
As we kick off the new school year, please note that our transportation schedule may need some adjustments during the first week of school.
What to expect:
• Buses may experience delays as routes are optimized
• Phone lines are experiencing high volume - thank you for your patience
• Route changes will be addressed once all student schedules are finalized
• Additional route adjustments may be needed to address overcrowding
• Schools may hold students inside during unsafe weather conditions
We appreciate your understanding as our transportation team works diligently to ensure the safe and efficient transport of all students to and from school.
Your patience during this transition period helps us provide the best service for our school community!

If you are driving, remember these simple rules:
– 𝐘𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰 𝐟𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 𝐨𝐧 𝐚 𝐬𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐛𝐮𝐬 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐬𝐥𝐨𝐰 𝐝𝐨𝐰𝐧 — don’t speed up — because the bus is preparing to stop. There are - likely students waiting to get on the bus or parents waiting nearby to pick up children.
– 𝐑𝐞𝐝 𝐟𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐩 — and wait at least 20 feet behind the bus — because children are getting on or off the school bus. Stay stopped until the red lights stop flashing, the extended stop-arm is withdrawn, and the bus begins moving.
– 𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧’𝐭 𝐟𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐰𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐧, particularly in the morning or mid-afternoon, around school arrival and dismissal times. Be alert as you back out of a driveway, or drive through a neighborhood, school zone or bus stop.
𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 - 𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐤 𝐛𝐮𝐬 𝐬𝐚𝐟𝐞𝐭𝐲 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐧:
Your child should arrive at the bus stop at least 10 minutes before the bus is scheduled to arrive. Teach them to play it SAFE:
– 𝐒tay five steps away from the curb.
– 𝐀lways wait until the bus comes to a complete stop and the bus driver signals for you to board.
– 𝐅ace forward after finding a seat on the bus.
– 𝐄xit the bus after it stops and look left-right-left for cars before crossing a street.

If you are not seeing a bus route for your child in the My Ride K-12 app, please log in to Infinite Campus to verify that the Transportation question was completed during your child’s registration.
We’ve found that many parents unintentionally skipped this step, which prevents the bus route from being assigned and displayed in the app.
Once you have confirmed that the Transportation question has been completed, please allow 24 hours during the work week before checking the My Ride K-12 app. If your child’s bus route still isn’t showing after that time, please contact the Transportation Department at (912) 729-8374 for assistance.
Thank you for helping us ensure a smooth start to the school year!
