Track Closed During ESPLOST-Funded Capital Improvements

Camden County Schools has begun a series of major capital improvement projects at Camden County High School as part of its ongoing commitment to providing modern, high-quality learning environments and extracurricular facilities for students. Funded through the Education Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (ESPLOST), these investments reflect the community’s continued support of public education and long-term planning for current and future students.

Collectively, these projects represent an investment of approximately $30 million in ESPLOST-funded improvements designed to enhance educational, athletic, and career and technical education opportunities for Camden County students.

Construction is currently underway in multiple areas across campus, resulting in temporary changes to facility access and traffic patterns. As part of the project, the existing track has been closed and demolition has begun to prepare the site for future development. A new track facility will be constructed on the current practice field. Upon completion, the former track site will be redeveloped into a multi-purpose facility designed to support athletic programs, student activities, and special events.

Additional capital improvements currently underway include:

  • Ninth Grade Center Extension

  • Tennis Court Parking and Lighting Improvements

  • Baseball/Softball Field Parking Lot Hitting Facility

  • Agricultural Barn

Projected completion timelines include:

  • Ninth Grade Center Extension — Late Fall 2026

  • Tennis Court Parking — Fall 2026 | Lighting Improvements — TBD

  • Baseball/Softball Field Parking Lot and Hitting Facility — Early Spring 2027

  • New Track Facility — Early Spring 2027

  • Agricultural Barn — Early Spring 2027

  • Multi-Purpose Facility — Late Fall 2027

"These projects represent more than improvements to buildings and facilities. They are investments in our students, our schools, and the future of Camden County. By continuing to enhance learning environments, athletic facilities, and career and technical education spaces, we are creating opportunities that will benefit students for years to come. We are grateful to our community for its continued support of ESPLOST, which makes these important projects possible."
